IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu arrested.

Report reaching our news desk says the Federal Government has arrested the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar  Malami , SAN, who made the disclosure to journalists on today revealed that  Kanu  was arrested and brought back to Nigeria on Sunday. He said the arrest followed a collaborative effort between security agencies in Nigeria and Interpol. Malami  further disclosed that  Kanu  would be taken before the Federal High Court in Abuja for the continuation of his trial on charges bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, unlawful possession of firearms and management of an unlawful society.

economic development - FG The Federal Government of Nigeria has stated it's desire to increase the country's dependence on Gas, describing the natural resource as the nation's new source of development for the next decade.   The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva noted that there was a need to focus on gas as a bridge to renewable fuels. “Last year we declared 2020 the year of gas because we realised that we need to focus on gas as a bridge to renewable fuels and we have abundant gas resources, so we need to take advantage of it,” he said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).   Sylva said the Federal Government is now paying greater attention to gas development because it provides a bigger linkage to the economy than crude oil. “Gas is produced and it can be transformed to fertiliser and fertiliser can fertilise our agricultural sector.   “Also, the gas that is produced can be transformed into petrochemicals, and petrochemicals...

Girl, 11, becomes UK's youngest mother after falling pregnant aged just 10

An 11-year-old girl has become Britain's youngest mother after she gave birth earlier this month having fallen pregnant aged just 10 years old. The mother and her baby, that was delivered after more than 30 weeks of pregnancy, are both healthy and being cared for according to the Sun UK.  The name of the girl has not been revealed due to her age.   The Sun reports that her family had no idea she was pregnant, and that social services and council chiefs are investigating the matter. 'It has come as a big shock,' the newspaper quoted a source close to the family as saying.  'She's now being surrounded by expert help. The main thing is that she and the baby are OK.'  'This is the youngest mother I've heard of,' doctor Carol Cooper told The Sun, explaining that the average age a girl begins puberty is 11, although it can be at anytime from 8 to 14. NIMASA assures of Safety in International waters.

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) says the country is taking steps to ensure safety of Vessels in Nigeria and international waters particularly in the Gulf of Guinea. Director General  of NIMASA,Dr. Bashir Jamoh speaking in Lagos while addressing newsmen said the areas of maritime safety, maritime security and maritime shipping development are being addressed. He said to ensure navigation of Nigerian waters, all wrecks are being removed as the country has been grouped into four zones, Badagry, Tin Can Island Creek area, Eastern zone in Port Harcourt and the Central zone in Warri. PREGNANT WOMAN, 2 OTHERS DIE IN MOTOR ACCIDENT.

A pregnant woman and two other men have been reported dead in another Lagos-Ibadan highway accident. The pregnant woman, was in a bus conveying tomatoes. The fatal crash occurred around 5 am on Thursday at Danco axis of the highway, inbound Lagos, barely two days after a tanker explosion killed two persons along the Ogere stretch of the road a DAF truck (flat body) with registration number, XY 895 GGE and a granite-laden Iveco truck marked, JBD 16 XY were involved in the accident. The accident also involved a Mazda bus (LND 676 XX) loaded with tomatoes and another Mazda bus (BDG 755 YA) loaded with garri. TRACE spokesman, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said among the three casualties who died in the unfortunate crash, two males were occupants of the Mazda bus loaded with garri, while a pregnant woman was in the Mazda bus loaded with tomatoes.” The dead victims, Akinbiyi said, were evacuated by the FRSC officials to Idera Private Morgue, Sagamu, while TRACE officials cleared the road t...
