FG agrees to repair bad portions of roads in Sango Otta axis.

The Federal Government is to commence rehabilitation of the failed portions of the Lagos -Sango-Ota- Abeokuta Expressway.

This came following the intervention of the Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, when he engaged the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola.

The minister reportedly gave the commitment on Tuesday during a teleconference between the governor and the minister’s team.

According to a statement by the Governor’s chief press secretary, Kunle Somorin, areas of immediate attention are the failed portions around Sango-Ota on the Lagos – Abeokuta Expressway and the Ota – Idiroko road. These Federal roads have become a nightmare to motorists and commuters.

A team of engineers from the Federal Ministry of Works is expected on Thursday for assessment preparatory to commencement of the rehabilitation works.

At the meeting called at the instance of Governor Abiodun were the Minister; managing director, Federal Road Maintenance Agency, Engr. Nurudeen Rafindadi; Director of Federal Highway (Construction and Rehabilitation), Engr Folorunso Esan; among others.

Recall that there have been outcry from residents and motorists over the deplorable condition of these two roads which cause unnecessary gridlock on daily basis.

The Ogun and Lagos State governments have also written to the FG for them to be allowed to jointly reconstruct the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, but there had been no reply.
