NRC postpones resumption of Abuja - Kaduna train services till further notice.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation has announced a shift in the date of resumption of the Abuja - Kaduna train services earlier fixed for Monday 23rd May 2022.
This is according to a statement released by the Deputy Director Public Relations of the Organisation, Mallam Yakub Mahmood.
According to the statement, a new date would be announced soon.
The move to resume services has been kicked against by families of the victims who are still in the custody of the kidnappers who on March 28th 2022, unleashed attack on the Kaduna bound train, killing nine people, while many
are still in their custody.
The kidnappers have refused to release the victims until their request are met by the government. The government has discretly being engaging with the kidnappers.
NRC earlier move to resume services is backed by addition security measures it has put in place to ensure safety of passengers.
The Corporation apologises for the delay in resumption of the services assuring
that it will continue to cooperate and collaborate with the Federal Government
in its uncompromising mandate of protecting the territorial integrity and the
internal security of Nigeria for safe guarding the lives and properties of its
citizens especially as it concerns the rail sub-sector.
In same vein, it identify with the relatives
of those in captivity on the account of the
AKTS assuring that the Federal Government is alive to its
responsibility for the safe rescue of all persons being held hostage.
The Corporation appealed to
relatives of persons held hostage to be patient and corporate with it and the Security Agencies as the Federal Government is exploring all possible ways and means to
release their loved ones from captivity soonest.
